French Cyber Sovereignty: Breaking Dependencies and Strengthening Defense – Week 15

Innovation and Regulation

FRANCE: THE STATE TO STRENGTHEN ITS CYBERSECURITY AND REDUCE it NON EUROPEAN DEPENDENCIES

The French State has announced several measures. On cybersecurity, further to the many recent data leaks, it concerns: improvement of governance in each administration, homologation procedure for new systems, management of updates and patches, authentication, incident detection and transition to post quantum cryptography. On dependency reduction, after a mapping of all dependencies, the objective is to release links with Microsoft, turn to trustworthy cloud systems, clarify the make or buy decision process, and finally cooperate with other European countries such as Germany.

GAIA–X STILL ALIVE

The European association has issued several announcements. Firstly, the vertical data spaces are now ready to be used in different industries. They will allow partners to safely exchange and treat data of common interest. Secondly, a common label for cloud services, with an upper layer including immunity to extraterritorial jurisdictions a reminder of the EUCS buried project? Thirdly, an AI sovereign project named PIIEC… Better late than never?
