The Real Cost of AI, ChapsVision’s Intelligence Victory, and Europe’s €1.5B Quantum Surge

MISTRAL AI DEVELOPS INDUSTRIAL AI

Mistral AI continues its strategy of vertical integration. After acquiring the start-up Koyeb last February, the company announced on May 19, 2026, that it had acquired Emmi AI, an Austrian start-up specializing in ‘Physics AI’,  the application of AI models to physical simulation and industrial engineering. Founded in Linz in 2024, Emmi AI develops models able to simulate complex physical phenomena in real time: airflow, heat transfer, mechanical stress, or turbulence. The goal: to replace part of the traditional solvers these physical simulation software programs used for decades in the industry with models capable of producing similar results in a few seconds.

DONT TELL MY MOTHER WHAT ARE THE REAL PRICES OF AI

Microsoft is reported to have very recently canceled its internal licenses for Claude Code  after token-based billing made costs unsustainable, even for a company with virtually unlimited cloud resources. In another domain, Uber’s CTO has warned that the company had consumed its entire AI budget for 2026 in just four months. Prices for American AI software have jumped from 20% to 37%, and GitHub (owned by Microsoft) is abandoning its fixed-rate plans in favor of pay-as-you-go billing across all its products.

The era of AI subsidies is coming to an end. The investors will now seek a faster return, prices will progressively ramp up to align on the true costs. A game charger ?

INTELLIGENCE

The German domestic intelligence service (BfV) has selected the French company ChapsVision to equip its analysts with big data analysis tools. Palantir, which had been courting this market for years and did not hide its ambitions, is therefore excluded. The BfV selected ArgonOS, ChapsVision’s platform that relies on artificial intelligence (AI) to aggregate and cross-reference data from very diverse sources: internal databases, open source intelligence (OSINT), Darknet. All of this before an analyst even comes into play, and hosted on a sovereign cloud, in an isolated environment, with no windows open to the outside.

The fact that the BfV chose a European company is no coincidence. For months, German security officials have been repeating the same message: relying on American providers for sensitive infrastructures is to accept a geostrategic vulnerability. ChapsVision has a turnover of around 200 million euros, a base of more than 2,000 clients in 40 countries, and institutional credibility built patiently. It has for instance taken nearly three years for ChapsVision to convince the French DGSI, with tests to support it, that its cyber-intelligence tool could compete with Palantir. In 2024, the French gem won the OTDH1 tender, intended to replace the old Palantir system with a sovereign tool,

QUANTUM COMPUTING AND COMMUNICATION

FRANCE adds 1,5 billion € to its investments in Quantum techs. This will be used to support vendors’ development, as well as adoption and training.A part of this amount will also be used to support semiconductors manufacturing. The idea is to expand coordinated European investments across Europe on these fields.

ALICE & BOB SECURES A NEW ROUND OF FUNDING

Alice & Bob, in which Bpifrance has been a shareholder since the beginning, today announces an extension of its Series B by €100 million, with the entry of nVentures, NVIDIA’s corporate fund, into its capital.

The company has built the platform on which the future of hybrid quantum will be played. “Cat qubits [ the technology specifically designed by Alice & Bob] are one of the most promising architectures to achieve fault tolerance, and Alice & Bob is at the global forefront on this subject.”
