ADT Breach: Millions of records exposed in cloud compromise

Home security giant ADT sufferedata breach that appears to have exposed personally identifiable information pertaining to 5.5 million customers. ADT provides security services for homes and small businesses, runs a variety of sales and service offices nationwide, as well as six 24/7 monitoring and support centers, and relies on a large network of installation and service professionals. The filing sent by ADT says the company learned of the breach on April 20, involving “unauthorized access to certain cloud-based environments.” The Florida firm said it believes that “only limited customer and prospective customer data was accessed,” and that the breach is unlikely to materially dent its earnings.The extortion group ShinyHunters (reportedly linked to Russia) on Friday April 24 listed ADT on its data leak blog.

ITRON ATTACK: Grid management giant activates continuity plans

ITRON, a major US manufacturer of electricity grid management devices including the smart meters LINKY  has been hit by a cyber attack. The company says it has succeeded to stop it and has set up its continuity plan. Energy is a key target for hackers, this can include the grid or the equipments linked to it.
